Typing text
How the Switch keyboard opens for a game's text field, and which buttons do what.
When a game asks for text, for example a character’s name, rpynx opens the Switch’s own system keyboard (libnx swkbdShow), with its own text box and the field’s current text.
How it behaves
- It opens once per text field.
- OK puts the text into the field. Nothing moves on by itself: you continue in the game as usual.
- Y, or A with nothing selected, opens it again.
- A presses Enter only on a screen with no buttons at all. A cannot submit a Ren’Py input field otherwise, so use the game’s own button.
In run 26, a test screen opened the keyboard six times: three OK, three cancelled, and the game carried on each time.
SDL’s inline keyboard is not used.
